Tuesday Nite Studies with Mel White author of “Clobber the Passages”
Mel White is an author, retired clergy and co-founder (along with his husband) of Soulforce.org. He also happens to be the father of the famous movie director and actor, Mike White. Mel’s first book “Stranger At The Gate: To Be Gay and Christian in America” was a best seller in the 80s and helped many closeted gay men and women in America and other countries come freely out of the closet while accepting God’s warm welcome into their true selves. Mel was a professor at Fuller Theological University in Pasadena, California at the time he came out, and there was very little support or approval in the academic or religious communities. He was married to a wife he loved (they still love each other to this day) and father to two children. Mel’s coming out process and his vocation from that point forward would involve intense research of the Scriptures as well as investigation to why the Bible was being used against God’s LGBTQI children. He has authored several books on these topics, the most recent of which is “Clobber The Passages.”
With great delight and celebration we welcome Mel White to our Tuesday Nite Studies as we read his latest work together.
